Día 2 de #livinlavidapura!!!! To say that today has been a humbling, exciting, and adventurous day is such an understatement. It's been so funny to watch how we start each day with a plan, God changes it, and we are all still encouraged by the end!! There are so many little moments that I want to share!! We started today having our quiet times, really trying to make sure we were rooted in God first. We aimed at a certain time frame for our quiet times but as the rest of the day will show, a PLOT TWIST came up and we were interrupted. It reminded me of Mark 1 when Jesus spent an entire day healing people until after sunset. The next day he woke up early to pray and was interrupted in hopes of Him being able to give even more. That's basically where we started our day. Like Jesus!! We are learning to enjoy and embrace interruptions because they lead to better things for us and for those we impact. For example, Violetta and I went to meet a girl for a Bible study "a la fuente negra" ( working on my Spanish lol) and she didn't show up. We began to share with the girls around us and met a really kind girl studying English!! We ended up going to lunch with her off campus! We had meaningful conversation and planted seeds but she wasn't interested in anything now. Pray for Veronica. Pray that when God humbles her and she sees her need for him, a disciple will be there to catch her during her fall. Another change of plans occurred during Bible Talk. We started our discussion on what it means to be strong and it began to rain. Since we were sitting outside we ended up moving about 60 yards to be under a tent. I was a little discouraged having to have our visitors get up in the middle of the discussion and was honestly worried a few would leave. But God is faithful when we are not! Not only did all the visitors stay but we found two more guys to join our discussion and one set up a Bible study for Thursday!! Pray for Bosco!! I got to speak with him after the discussion and with the help of Jonesha and Danilo, we set up a study with him! As I spoke to him, his openness and sincerity made me feel like I could really see him being my brother in Christ. What an amazing way God used a plot twist to encourage us during the day! We have about 10 studies set up for the next few days. Two of which are with guys that Jordan and Ryan believe could be the next campus leader!! One of them, Bernie, has agreed to translate studies for Jordan!! (Btw...they found Bernie when their original study got cancelled. PLOT TWIST!!!) Finally, we had midweek with the church and because Jose Luis is out of town, we did a prayer and worship night. I found myself so in awe of the depth of gratitude the disciples here. We prayed on our knees multiple times and I was almost in tears at how far removed I can be from such an attitude of gratitude. I noticed I'd find myself wondering why we were spending so much time praying and it hit me...our time is best spent during our time in prayer. None of our efforts on campus matter if we are not supported by God. I want to grow in the conviction that if I spend the entire day praying, I've done more than enough.
We have plans for mañana but I'm sure God has His own. And I can't wait to see what they are.
Continue to pray for our team. For strength, boldness, humility, and faith. Pray for our protection. The sun sets at 6 and public transportation can be dangerous. Especially for a group of Americans lol. The fact that you're praying for us is a reminder that God is with us. We are grateful to be here and are excited to share our days with you via the blog!!! We love you!! Pura Vida!! #livinlavidapura
